Selena Gomez revealed the relatable reason she is looking forward to the end of the Emilia Pérez press tour—and it’s not what you’d expect.
Selena Gomez is looking forward to a year without shapewear.
While the 32-year-old has been enjoying the glitz and glam that has accompanied the Emilia Pérez press tour, she revealed the relatable reason she was ready for it to end.
“I think this whole journey has been really wonderful,” she exclusively told E! News’ Francesca Amiker at the Los Angeles premiere of Emilia Pérez on Oct. 21. “I feel so grateful.”
“A little tired of dressing up because all the Spanx I got to wear,” she continued, “but I couldn't be more happy to see how it's being received with open minds and open hearts.” (For more from the premiere, tune into E! News tonight, Oct. 22 at 11 p.m.)
In fact, Selena admitted that the Oscar buzz surrounding Jacques Audiard’s musical crime comedy—which will be in select theaters on Nov. 1 and available to stream on Netflix Nov. 13—was already causing a hint of anxiety.
“If anything, I think I’m just honored that we can represent Jacques,” she noted, “I don't know what's gonna happen. I’m stressed—I'm already breaking out.”
And while the Only Murders in the Building star has been vocal about how overwhelming growing up in the entertainment industry could be, she recently reflected on the body shaming and criticism she endured after her kidney transplant in 2017 during her private battle with Lupus.
"None of the sample sizes were fitting, and that would make me feel embarrassed," Selena told Fast Company earlier this month. "Although how unrealistic is it to expect a normal woman's body not to change?"
"I had just gotten my heart broken. I didn't need to see what everyone was doing," she recalled. "Then there were those moments of not feeling positive about how I looked because of what I'd see on Instagram. 'Wow, I wish my body looked like that.'"
But despite these difficult moments, the “Calm Down” singer has taken to social media to spread messages of body positivity to her fans.
"I just want people to know that you're beautiful and you're wonderful," Selena told her fans on TikTok Live in February. "And yeah we have days where maybe we feel like s–t but I would much rather be healthy and take care of myself and my medications are important and I believe they are what helps me.”
