RAPID CITY, S.D. – YMCA of Rapid City has opened up enrollment for their summer sports programs. The YMCA is offering a variety of different programs from basketball to outdoor flag football and tee ball.
A number of programs are available for kids in kindergarten through eighth grade, as well as separate programs for younger children ages four through six. YMCA officials say getting into physical activities at a young age can have a huge impact.
JJ Shultz, program director for the YMCA of Rapid City said, “It’s really important for kids to be active because that kind of sets the precedent for the rest of their lives. So, when they are active as a kid it carries on into their teen life and even into adulthood.”
Shultz says youth sports programs are also a great place for kids to meet their peers and lifelong friends. Information about sports programs and registration are available at the YMCA of Rapid City’s website.
