Buddy the Elf, what’s your favorite sport?
Will Ferrell extended the joy of the holiday season by wearing his “Elf” movie costume to an NHL hockey game on Sunday night. The 57-year-old actor was spotted wearing the green-and-gold outfit from the 2003 Christmas film at Crypto.com Arena, cheering on the Los Angeles Kings over the Philadelphia Flyers while periodically hamming it up for the crowd.
The former “SNL” star almost looked more like “Bad Santa,” appearing unshaven and drinking beer or holding an unlit cigarette in his mouth. The cotton-headed ninny muggins joked to FanDuel TV’s Carrlyn Bathe that it’s been a tough holiday season and hoped his team could turn it around. (The Kings ended up winning, 5-4.)

According to Sports Illustrated, Ferrell is a longtime Kings fan who frequently attends games. He was also seen cheering on the L.A. hockey team Saturday, reuniting with “Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga” star Demi Lovato for a photo with her fiancé Jutes.
“Elf” is a highly-quotable holiday film about a human elf who travels from the North Pole to New York City to meet his biological father (James Caan). Directed by Jon Favreau, the cast also includes Zooey Deschanel, Bob Newhart, Mary Steenburgen and Ed Asner. It became a “ginormous” hit that led to a 2014 animated musical special, “Elf: Buddy’s Musical Christmas,” starring Jim Parsons.
