The Westmoreland County Coaches Association Showcase is so big, the one-day event with eight boys basketball games will take place at two separate venues.
There are four games set for both Hempfield and Jeannette with games tipping off early due to the late afternoon Steelers game.
In the games at Hempfield:
• Southmoreland (3-2) takes on Greensburg Salem (1-4) at 9:45 a.m.
• Burrell (3-3) goes up against Derry (5-2) at 11:15 a.m.
• Belle Vernon (5-2) visits host Hempfield (4-2) at 12:45 p.m.
• Kiski Area (3-3) battles Greensburg Central Catholic (6-0) at 2:15 p.m.
In the games at Jeannette:
• Ligonier Valley (3-3) will face Yough (1-6) at 9:45 a.m.
• Monessen (3-1) squares off against Latrobe (5-1) at 11:15 a.m.
• Jeannette (5-0) is home to Mt. Pleasant (0-6) at 12:45 p.m.
• Valley (3-4) challenges Norwin (3-3) at 2:15 p.m.
PBC Classic
District girls basketball teams also have a big one-day event Saturday taking place at Ambridge.
The PBC Classic also has eight games, but all of them will be played on two courts in Ambridge, four at the high school and four at the fieldhouse next door.
Again, the event tips off early in an effort to be finished before the Steelers-Ravens game at 4:30 p.m.
• Sto-Rox (5-4) visits host Ambridge (1-4) at 10 a.m.
• Allderdice (3-4) plays Montour (4-3) at 10 a.m.
• Seton LaSalle (5-1) takes on Lincoln Park (2-3) at 11:30 a.m.
• Keystone Oaks (4-1) goes up against Aliquippa (5-1) at 11:30 a.m.
• Penn Hills (0-5) will face Bethel Park (5-2) at 1 p.m.
• Our Lady of the Sacred Heart (5-0) squares off against Hopewell (1-6) at 1 p.m.
• Shady Side Academy (7-0) challenges Blackhawk (7-1) at 2:30 p.m.
• Oakland Catholic (3-2) battles Chartiers Valley (5-2) at 2:30 p.m.
Road warriors
A couple of area basketball teams are all points here, there and everywhere on Saturday.
On the boys side, Upper St. Clair is south as the Panthers continue their trip in Burlington, N.C., when they go up against Legacy Academy, Va.
North Catholic is west, taking part in the Queens City Classic in Cincinnati as the Trojans go up against Mariemont, Ohio.
Allderdice from the City League heads north to New York as the Dragons visit Canarsie, N.Y.
And in girls hoops, Woodland Hills is east near Philadelphia playing in the Cream of the Crop Tournament at Imhotep Charter as the Wolverines face Frankford from Philadelphia.
