The West Virginia Mountaineers face a pivotal week as they prepare to square off against the No. 10 Houston Cougars this Wednesday at the Fertitta Center.
The Mountaineers split their games last week, suffering a 75-56 defeat at home to Arizona on Tuesday before bouncing back with a 78-70 victory over Colorado on Sunday.
In their win against Colorado, Javon Small led the charge with 26 points, while Joseph Yesufu added a crucial 18 points off the bench. West Virginia improved their season record to 12-3 overall and 3-1 in Big 12 action.
Yesufu came through in the clutch with two key baskets late in the game, securing the Mountaineers’ second conference road win of the season. Meanwhile, Small showcased his endurance, playing 38 out of 40 minutes.
