PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Title 9 Sports Grill is getting ready for its grand opening in Phoenix!
Hence the name, inspired by Title IX legislation, the owners say it’s the first-ever women-focused sports bar in Phoenix. According to a press release, the owners want to highlight women’s sports and create an “inclusive community hub.”
The owners include Audrey Corley, the founder of Boycott Bar and a former college basketball coach, and Kat Moore, the founder of Short Leash Hotdogs + Taproom. They saw a gap in the sports bar world and wanted to create a space where female athletes are celebrated.
The bar will feature screens showing women’s sporting events, classic bar food, and dishes named after iconic female athletes. It will also serve beers, ciders and other drinks from female-owned businesses.
Throughout the bar, there are tributes to women in sports in the “Trophy Room.” It’ll feature donated trophies and other games in honor of Phoenix Mercury players and other Arizona athletes.
Title 9 Sports Grill is located at 4221 N. 7th Avenue, near 7th Avenue and Indian School Road.
