"There are high-level competitors across the board in throws, jumps, and sprints, so it's a good way for us to get our season kickstarted in 2025 and see where we're at and see what we need to work on."
Field event action on Friday gets started with the women's weight throw at 11 a.m., while things begin on the track with the women's 60 meter prelims at 11:30 a.m.
Participating teams include USC, UCLA, California, Washington State, Boise State, Fresno State, Gonzaga, Idaho, Eastern Washington, and Sacramento State. "The meets there have a lot of teams competing and that's a little bit unique for the indoor competitions where oftentimes the fields are limited to a smaller number of teams. This is a good experience to get into a meet like this and get good preparation for conference championships where there's not just two or three other teams, but this meet there'll be teams from all over the place that have some really high-level athletes."
Friday's meet will mark the first leg in seven straight weeks of meets for MSU that culminates in the 2025 Big Sky Indoor Track and Field Championships, hosted by Northern Arizona in Flagstaff on Feb. 27-March 1.
"For track and field ,it's a long competitive season between indoor and outdoor combined, so us coaches are really responsible for putting together a training plan that puts them in a place to be successful early and then throughout and run well at championship competitions," Weese said. "For the most part, the athletes' job is to go out there and get after it and not be too worried about the pacing of the season and just be able to focus on getting better."
Montana State opened up their slate of meets with the Bobcat PReview on December 7 and turned heads with a haul of top-ten program marks and a pair of school records.
<dfn>Hailey Coey</dfn> broke a 20-year old women's triple jump record with a mark of 40-03.25 and became one of just three women in program history to clear 20 feet in the indoor long jump, joining Lacy Hinzpeter (2000) and Janet Buntin (1983).
<dfn>Elijah Jackman</dfn> was selected Big Sky Men's Field Athlete of the Week after a toss of 20.00 meters (65-07.50) in the weight throw, just missing his personal best mark of 66-07.50 that currently ranks third all-time in Montana State history. <dfn>Tatum Richards</dfn> was selected Big Sky Women's Field Athlete of the Week after becoming one of three Bobcat women to clear 13 feet in the pole vault at the Bobcat PReview, climbing up to No. 3 all time at MSU with her clearance of 4.11 meters (13-05.75).
On the track, <dfn>Drake Wilkes</dfn> shaved a hundredth of a second off the school record in the 60 meters, crossing the line in a converted time of 6.79 in his first-ever race as a Bobcat after transferring to MSU over the offseason from Vanguard University.
#GoCatsGo
11.26.24
07.23.24
07.02.24
06.20.24
06.15.24

Thanks for visiting !
The use of software that blocks ads hinders our ability to serve you the content you came here to enjoy.
We ask that you consider turning off your ad blocker so we can deliver you the best experience possible while you are here.
Thank you for your support!

source
