While the Chico State Wildcats enter the West Regionals as the number seven seed and are considered underdogs, their relentless spirit and recent history of success position them as a genuine threat to shake up the tournament.
CHICO, Calif. – Under head coach Bryan Fogel, the Chico State Wildcats Women’s Basketball team have battled with grit and determination all season, securing their first 23-win campaign since 2012–13.
Now, their focus shifts to the NCAA Division II West Regionals, where a familiar foe stands in their way: the Broncos of Cal Poly Pomona.
The Wildcats and Broncos have squared off three times this season, splitting their regular-season match-ups before Pomona edged out Chico State in the California Collegiate Athletic Association Tournament semifinals.
With redemption on their minds and momentum behind them, the Wildcats are ready to make a statement on the tournament stage.
“Even though we just lost in conference, we are really excited to be in regionals and it is against the team we just lost to, so we will have fresh legs and we are really excited,” said Jordan Allred, a Senior guard on the Wildcats Women’s Basketball team.
While the Wildcats enter the Regionals as the number seven seed, their relentless spirit and recent history of success positions them as a genuine threat to shake things up in the tournament.
