Wiith the Knights leading 59-57, Steinberg made one of two free throws with 1:27 showing on the clock to give Eisenhower a three point lead at 60-57. The Lakers quickly worked the ball to Savko, who was fouled driving to the hoop with 40 seconds left. She made both free throws and Eisenhower’s lead was 60-59.

“The girls played a tremendous game,” Eisenhower coach DJ Steinberg said. “We started out on fire and built a big lead. We kind of relaxed, which allowed them back in the game. Tracey Jakubczak had a big game on the boards for us and Clara had a nice game, but this was truly a team win. We are 4-1 and it’s our best start in 17 years. I have to give a shoutout to the fans and student section. They rocked the gym tonight and our girls definitely fed off of that. We have to continue to improve and build off of this. We don’t get a chance to rest because we have Fort Lebouef next.”
Eisenhower is back in action today with a game at Fort Lebouef, which tips off at 11 a.m.
