Nearly 32,000 people have signed a petition against Prince Harry receiving an award created in honor of an American war hero. ESPN announced that the Duke of Sussex will be given the Pat Tillman Award for his work with the Invictus Games. The award was created in honour of ex-professional footballer Pat Tillman, who left his football career to join the military following the 9/11 attacks. The petition states that the award should be given to someone who represents Tillman’s values and shows “unwavering dedication to their squad and country.” Harry has been accused of “endangering his squadron by publicly revealing military kills” in his recent book, ‘Spare’. Tillman’s mother, Mary, also has issues with the decision to give Prince Harry the award, believing there are “much more deserving recipients.”
