Bryant could become the eighth Illini wide receiver to hit 1,000 yards in a season if he chooses to play in the bowl game for Illinois either later this month or in early January. ➜ 1. Tennessee vs. Georgia Tech volleyball. Former St. Thomas More standout setter Caroline Kerr and her Tennessee teammates open the NCAA tournament at 5:30 p.m. Thursday in Madison, Wis. Kerr has 1,012 assists and earned All-SEC Second Team honors earlier this week.
➜ 2. Illinois State at Belmont men’s basketball. Former St. Joseph-Ogden standout Ty Pence and his Illinois State teammates begin Missouri Valley Conference play at 6 p.m. Wednesday. Pence averages 11.1 points for the Redbirds (4-3).
➜ 3. Bethedsa at San Diego State women’s basketball. Former Danville standout Erin Houpt averages 6.2 points for the Aztecs (8-1) before Friday’s home game.
