BOISE, Idaho (CBS2 News) — There's a new Tex-Mex restaurant where Ha'Penny Irish Pub and Happy Fish Sushi used to be. El Tejano knocked down the walls that divided the former businesses and made one large sports bar!
"We're really just all about sports, watch parties and good prices," said Matt Garry, General Manager of El Tejano. "Pricing is ridiculously low, so we're very competitive in food and drinks. It's $3 wells, $6 margaritas and $2 tacos for happy hour."
With 30 large TV's throughout the restaurant, El Tejano makes for a great place to watch any sporting event.
"There's great margaritas, a great cocktail menu, also some pub fare like chicken wings and burgers," said Garry. "It's just solid Tex-Mex food with great drinks."
El Tejano, which also has a location in North Hollywood, California, opened in October of 2024. They are excited to bring Tex-Mex food to Boise.
"Tex Mex originated from the border areas of Texas, so it's mainly Mexican food with some Texas influence. It's a lot of beans, fajitas, burritos, nacho plates, a lot of meat and very large portions. Everything's got a lot of flavor," said Garry.
They say everything's bigger in Texas and there's no exception at El Tejano!
"We do Texas sizing, so we can Texas size your cocktails, you can get 25-ounce margaritas or beers," said Garry.
Different rooms within El Tejano are available to rent for private parties on their website. They also have a partnership with the Knitting Factory.
"It's the same ownership, so we serve all of our food to the Knitting Factory. We're their exclusive food vendor," said Garry. "So if you're at a show at the Knitting Factory, you can order our food and we'll bring it over there. They have a kiosk where you can place your order."
El Tejano is located at 855 W Broad St #250, Boise, ID 83702. Click here to check out their menu!
