Speaking to The Guardian, the actor, 33, spoke about having moved on following the 2023 breakup with the Cruel Summer singer, 35, after six years together.
When asked if he thought dating the hitmaker would overshadow his career, the British-born actor replied: “I have tried just to focus on controlling what I can control.”
“Right from the beginning, tried to focus on the things that are meaningful for me: friends, family, work, of course,” The Favourite star added.
He went on to explain: “So noise outside of that, I think I’ve done what lots of people who find themselves in the public eye do, which is just try and ignore it.”
Joe’s response has since sparked a huge reaction from fans on Reddit.
“I’ve never thought about this line like this. Wow. Yes x1000. Date Taylor and no matter what you do in life, you will never not be Taylor’s ex,” one fan shared.
Another added: “Staying classy as always. Good for him.”

“I really like Joe. He’s had multiple opportunities to talk s–t about Taylor and has refused each time. He didn’t do anything massively wrong in their relationship,” a third chimed in.
As a fourth said: “They just grew in different directions. I’m glad he’s in a really good place because he deserves to be, just as Taylor does. He has a lot of integrity.”
While Joe has been linked to model Alexa Chung and his The Brutalist co-star Emma Laird in recent months, he has not publically confirmed any new relationships due to his notoriously private approach.
As for his ex, Taylor, she has taken quite the opposite approach. The Bad Blood singer has dominated the headlines with her highly documented relationship with NFL star Travis Kelce, 35, whom she was first romanticly linked to in 2023.
