Roughly six months and one devastating hurricane later, Swamp Rabbit Cafe announced its grab-and-go Main Street expansion, Swamp Mart, will close. The scaled-down cafe was located in Wells Fargo Center in downtown Greenville.
The closure does not impact Swamp Rabbit Cafe and Grocery, located at 205 Cedar Lane north of downtown. The announcement was made on social media Oct. 17, attributing the closure to the residual effects of Hurricane Helene.

“We gotta say that that hurricane really whipped our butts! It may not be apparent from the outside but behind the scenes we are still catching up and working hard to celebrate good food and the people that make it,” the post said.
“We hate to end things, but given the task that lies ahead of us, it is with much sadness that we will have to close our little @swampmartgvl.”
The standing cafe opened in early April offering ready-made sandwiches, pastries and stecca bread. Small Business Administration head Isabela Casillas Guzman paid Swamp Rabbit Cafe a visit earlier in October, giving founders Jac Oliver and Mary Walsh an opportunity to discuss resources available to small businesses in the wake of the storm.
