SYRACUSE — Small-school football players from Chautauqua and Cattaraugus counties are well-represented on the 2024 New York State Sportswriters Association All-State teams, which were announced Wednesday.
Leading the way are members of the Clymer/Sherman/Panama team, which has six First-Team selections, a fitting reward after the Wolfpack claimed the New York State Public High School Athletic Association Class D championship last month.
Headlining that group are senior quarterback Tate Catanese and senior offensive end Bryce Hinsdale, who were named the Co-Players of the Year.
The other First-Team honorees from C/S/P, all seniors, are Carter Brink, offensive end; Alex Barmore, defensive lineman; Collin Ryan, linebacker; and Dalton Richter, defensive back.
The remaining area First-Team selection in Class D is junior linebacker Camryn Slade of Gowanda/Pine Valley.
Four members of state runner-up Salamanca are First-Team choices in Class C.
They are senior quarterback Maddox Isaac; senior offensive end Cory Holleran; senior defensive lineman Warrick Kyler; and senior linebacker Zachary Trietley.
The final area First-Team choice is junior quarterback Trent Lewis, who helped lead Frewsburg to the Eight-Man Far West Regional.
