The start of the 50th girls’ Ripley County Tournament has been postponed. Girls games are being played this year at Milan, and the first round has been rescheduled for Friday at 6 p.m. with Jac-Cen-Del up against Batesville, followed by South Ripley taking on the host Indians. The consolation and championship games are now set for Monday night starting at 6.
The other two girls hoops games scheduled for tonight, Class 1A #11 North Decatur at home against Edinburgh and Franklin County at Rushville, have both been called off. Edinburgh at North Decatur is postponed until this Saturday afternoon.
The Pacers knocked off the Brooklyn Nets 113-99 on the road last night in a game heard on WRBI. Tyrese Haliburton led Indiana with 23 points. The Pacers improve to 19-18 and are above the .500 mark for the first time since the opening night win over Detroit.
The Bengals fired defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo on Monday, along with offensive line coach Frank Pollack, defensive line coach Marion Hobby and linebackers coach James Bettcher. The moves come one day after Cincinnati was eliminated from the NFL playoffs. The Bengals finished 9-8 and missed the postseason for a second consecutive year, despite having one of the league’s best offenses. Cincinnati’s defense was 25th in the league in points and yards allowed per game this past season.
The Colts have parted ways with defensive coordinator Gus Bradley. He had been with the team since 2022. Bradley’s three-year contract was up at the end of the 2024 season and the team chose not to bring him back.
The Reds acquired second baseman/outfielder Gavin Lux in a trade with the Los Angeles Dodgers on Monday in exchange for outfield prospect Mike Sirota and a Competitive Balance Round A pick. Cincinnati also acquired pitching prospect Owen White from the Texas Rangers for cash considerations.
