BELLWOOD — Landon Sneath singled home a run in the bottom of the seventh inning Monday afternoon, leading the Bellwood-Antis baseball team to a season-opening 7-6 win over Williamsburg in high school play.
It was also the Blue Pirates’ season opener.
Hunter Kyle also had two hits and an RBI for the Blue Devils, who led 5-4 after two innings of play. Teammate Cam Swogger scored two runs.
Williamsburg, which out-hit Bellwood-Antis 8-6, got two hits each from Jace McCall, Anthony Neri and Preston Long. McCall also had two RBIs in a game in which the Blue Pirates scored a run in the top of the seventh to tie it up at 6-all.
Zach Gonzalez got the win in relief. He struck out eight over four innings, giving up just one earned run while scattering three hits and three walks.

Glendale’s Joey Kitko, Juniata Valley’s Jett Rand and Ronal Chavez, Williamsburg’s Logan Brantner, Claysburg-Kimmel’s Brayden Haney and Northern Bedford’s Wesley Horsh were among the first-teamers named when the Inter-County Conference released its boys basketball all-star list recently.
Williamsburg’s Jesse Brumbaugh was an honorable mention pick.
In girls basketball, Williamsburg was represented on the first team by Levada Gorsuch and LeeAnna Royer, Juniata Valley landed Anna Taylor and Aubrey Anderson on the first team, and Glendale (Madison Peterson) and Claysburg-Kimmel (Bailey Tipton) each had one representative on the first team.
C-K’s Zailee Bush was selected as an honorable mention.
In wrestling, Wyatt Clouse, Aidan Pittman, Nolin Snider and Aiden Replogle of Northern Bedford and Glendale’s Ethan Gilbey were picked as ICC all stars.
