PHOTO PROVIDED Jersey Shore saw a ton of success at the Arctic Classic Invitational at Clearfield on Saturday.
Jersey Shore competed on Saturday at the Arctic Classic Invitational in swimming at Clearfield and delivered a strong overall performance. The Bulldogs’ girls team took second overall among 12 teams, finishing 15 points ahead of third-place St. Mary’s. It’s the best finish at the Arctic Classic since 2019.
A key part of the team’s success came from wins and top-five finishes. Reese Charney led the way by winning the 100 back, finishing over two seconds ahead of a St. Mary’s Sarah krise thanks to a time of 1:00.65. She then teamed up with Kate Butzler, Brooke Charney and Aaralynn Kimble to win the 400 free relay by more than five seconds.
The girls 200 medley relay team also took third with Macy Wilton, Reese Charney, Butzler and Kimble.
Reese Charney was a second-place finisher in the 200 IM and Kimble finished fourth in the 50 free. Butzler was a third-place finisher in the 100 fly and Kimble was fourth. Butzler also was a third-place finishier in the 100 back.
The second relay group of Addison Miller, Sierra Derr, Lila Nestlerode, and Brooke Charney contributed valuable points with a ninth-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay. In the 400-yard freestyle relay, the second relay team of Jazzlyn Jolin, Alaina Samar, Allison Sweeley, and Caitlan Ross added four points with their 11th-place finish.
The boys’ team finished ninth overall. Their highest finish came in the 400 free relay, where Jayden Passetti, Ezra Paulhamus, Nathan Klugh, and Nathan Grant placed sixth.
Jersey Shore will return to action in the pool on Tuesday hosting Central Mountain and Wellsboro.
