Shia LaBeouf’s red carpet return at The Cannes Film Festival has been hugely criticized after he was accused of abusing his ex, FKA Twigs. The ‘Transformers’ star returned to the red carpet to promote his new Frances Ford Coppola-directed film ‘Megalopolis.’ Singer FKA Twigs came forward with the abuse allegations after she had broken up with the actor. She filed a lawsuit against LaBeouf in 2020, claiming he slammed her into a car, tried to strangle her and gave her an STD. LaBeouf’s lawyer responded by saying that the actor denied “each and every allegation” against him. The trial is set to take place Oct. 14, 2024. Users online were not pleased with his return, with one saying, “Why is Cannes so obsessed with redeeming men accused of abuse?” While another wrote, “Is anyone cancelled at Cannes?”
