WASHTENAW COUNTY, MI — There seems to be a long list of new businesses set for Washtenaw County including a bakery in Ypsilanti and a fast-food chain in Ann Arbor.
There are also some longtime businesses coming to an end, including a brewery in Chelsea and a neighborhood bar in Ann Arbor.

Restaurant known for chicken fingers opening new Michigan location
Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers is set to become an anchor tenant in the Vic Village South high-rise on South University Avenue in Ann Arbor, according to Jim Chaconas of Colliers International Ann Arbor, whose commercial real estate group helped secure the deal.
The restaurant is known for fried chicken fingers with a signature sauce.

What’s that? A new go-to spot for milkshakes
Ann Arbor will soon have a new place for milkshakes, chocolate and ice cream sundaes.
Pittsburgh-based MilkShake Factory is aiming for a July opening at 326 S. Maple St., Suite 326, near the Westgate Shopping Center. It offers a range of milkshake flavors.

Chelsea Alehouse Brewery’s 11-year-run in downtown Chelsea is ending.
The brewery at 115 S. Main St. recently announced it will be closing in May after struggling with staffing and financial issues following the COVID-19 pandemic.

Pretzel Bell may be elevating its services, literally.
Ann Arbor’s Historic District Commission on April 11 unanimously approved the downtown restaurant for a new rooftop patio.
Pretzel Bell, 226 S. Main St., is a reincarnation of the original restaurant that opened in 1934 and has become known as a place to enjoy comfort food with a side of University of Michigan nostalgia.

Earthen Jar has reopened after fire in building’s upper level
Earthen Jar has reopened after a fire damaged its Ann Arbor building in March.
The mostly vegan Indian buffet at 311 S. Fifth Ave. officially reopened on March 28 after a brief closure due to the fire that happened in the residential unit above the restaurant on March 18.
