OCONOMOWOC — For the many Oconomowoc area residents wondering what happened to the Panera that was planned for the Olympia Fields development, it’s back.
Originally planned for 1414 Olympia Fields Drive, the restaurant with a drive-thru is now being proposed for 1361 Olympia Fields Drive. It will also have outdoor seating.
The plans for Panera are on the Sept. 4 agenda for the Architectural Commission, which previously approved the plans on Sept. 15, 2022. The earlier plans showed Panera to be one of several businesses in an 8,140-square-foot building with five tenants. Due to easement and access issues, the plans for the restaurant were moved to the new location.
The new plans show Panera in its own 2,400-square-foot building with 35 parking spaces. Because of the significant changes, the city is treating the proposal from Panera like an entirely new application.
During the Sept. 4 meeting at 4:30 p.m., the Architectural Commission will review building and sign plans. The commission meets in City Hall Conference Room No. 3, 174 E. Wisconsin Ave.
A Freeman reader asked why people aren’t allowed to walk and drink in the footprint of Waukesha’s Friday Night Live weekly summer music event series. Alcoholic drinks are available for purchase and consumption in some downtown bars/restaurants, but they aren’t allowed on the streets. What do you think?
