GREEN BAY, Wis. — Many Packers fans braved the cold in preparation for the final game of the regular season on Sunday.
Charlie Tritschler is a Packers fan from Brookfield. He made the trip with his friend, who is a Chicago Bears fan.
Tritschler said the Packers are having a good year, but he needs to see them perform against good teams.
“I think as long as they start fast in these games, I think they’ll really see success in the playoffs,” said Tritschler. “I think they can win on the road. They did it against Dallas last year. No one expected it. They still might be a year away and that’s okay. It’s hard to win a championship.”
Tritschler said the team looks different this year with the addition of running back Josh Jacobs, but he said he knows quarterback Jordan Love will step up when he needs to.
“I think Josh Jacobs is sort of taking the load off of [Love]. So, [Love] hasn’t necessarily had to, quote unquote, ‘cook,’” said Tritschler. “But I do think that in the playoffs, [Love] can do that and then they can give him the keys if they need to.”
A Packers fan from Bears territory said he has been impressed with Packers head coach Matt LaFleur, but still needs to see more from his team.
“It’s really just going to take some clean football, really clean football on all levels,” said Darin Halley. “When you talk about offense, defense, special teams, some great coaching in there, and it’s probably just going to take the fans. The fans really need to rally around the team.”
Tritschler said it doesn’t matter who the Packers play in the wild-card round because he believes in his team.
“They have beat themselves time and again,” said Tritschler. “I think just not beating yourself is going to be so huge and taking advantage of every possession as much as they can.”
