Nick Mammano will serve as the next president and chief executive officer of the New Jersey Sports & Exposition Authority (NJSEA) Board of Commissioners.
In his new role, Mammano will lead the Authority’s broad mission to support sports and international events in New Jersey as well as its responsibilities as the regional planning and zoning agency for the over 30 square mile Meadowlands District.
“I am proud to have supported Nick Mammano to serve as the President and CEO of the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority, and I commend the Board of Commissioners for approving his appointment,” Gov. Phil Murphy said. “Nick’s prior experience as Chief of Staff in addition to his years spent in public service make him uniquely qualified to lead the NJSEA as we ready our state to host the world’s largest sporting event, the FIFA World Cup, in 2026.”
Mammano has been with the NJSEA since 2023, first joining as chief of staff to president and CEO Paul Juliano, who is retiring effective Dec. 31, 2024. Before the NJSEA, he worked as a consultant in the private sector and spent over eight years as chief of staff to State Senator Joseph Lagana.
“My time with the NJSEA has allowed me to see first-hand the incredible ways our work can have a positive impact on the region and statewide,” Mammano said. “It is truly an exciting time to lead this Authority. Thoughtful planning will allow us to support word-class experiences for residents and visitors alike, while upholding our mandate to provide for the advancement of the District both economically and in the protection of our environment and natural resources. As we prepare to be on the world stage in 2026, I am committed to ensuring that the NJSEA operates as a model of excellence and collaboration.”
NJSEA Chairman John Ballantyne offered enthusiastic support for Mammano’s appointment.
“Nick Mammano is an exceptional, dynamic leader whose tireless work ethic, meticulous attention to detail and thorough preparation make him the ideal choice as the next President and CEO of the Authority. Nick has been remarkable in mastering every facet of the NJSEA during his time here,” he said.
The NJSEA holds the land lease to and provides for the ongoing operation of the MetLife Sports Complex, which is home to MetLife Stadium, American Dream and the Meadowlands Racetrack.
In June and July of 2026, the site will host eight matches for FIFA World Cup 2026, the largest sporting event in history, including the World Cup Final. The competition is projected to generate over $2 billion in economic impact, attract more than 1 million visitors, and support 14,000 jobs. The NJSEA also owns the Wildwood Convention Center and has the land lease for the Monmouth Park Racetrack.
