Arizona news anchor Ana Orsini was honored on-air by her colleagues after she died unexpectedly from a brain aneurysm.
Tuscon news anchor Ana Orsini is being remembered by her TV family.
The journalist, who reported for local CBS affiliate KOLD-TV, died suddenly at the age of 28, her colleagues shared on-air Dec. 16. Orsini’s cause of death was determined to be a brain aneurysm, according to the outlet.
“Sad news to share with you,” anchor Tyler Butler told viewers during the broadcast. “Our beloved friend and co-anchor Ana Orsini passed away unexpectedly last week.”
“Ana had been here at 13 News since June of 2023,” co-anchor Carsyn Currier continued as she shed tears, “and we are devastated by this loss.”
As Butler extended Currier a comforting hand, he shed light on Orsini’s upbeat nature.
“We had the opportunity to work with her every day,” he noted, “and we do want you to know that what you saw on air with her—the funny, crazy person she was—she was just like that off-camera and more so.”
Orsini began her career in 2018 after graduating from Texas A&M University, when she took a job as an anchor/reporter in Lubbock, Texas, according to her station biography. The TV personality then spent three years as a morning and midday anchor in Medford, Oregon, before joining KOLD-TV in Tuscon, Ariz.
Butler went on to share a tribute to his late colleague on social media, describing her as “a force of nature.”
“I keep thinking about how at times, I’d make a self-deprecating joke,” he recalled in a Facebook post Dec. 17, “and she’d snap, ‘Hey! Don't talk about my friend like that!’ Her genuine care for everyone around her will be missed.”
Currier also penned a heartfelt message about Orsini, whom she called “one of my best friends.”
“Waking up in the middle of the night to go to work is always challenging,” Currier wrote on Instagram, “but knowing I was going to work with Ana made it that much easier. Whether she was dancing around the set or making us all laugh, everyday with Ana was an adventure.”
“Time may pass, but my memories of Ana will never fade,” she added. “I love you forever, Ana.”
