The New Orleans Saints mourn the loss of CBS Sports broadcaster Greg Gumbel, who passed away today at the age of 78. Greg was one of the most versatile broadcasters in professional and college sports, serving as a play-by-play announcer and studio host for the NFL, NBA, Major League Baseball, the Olympics and college football, basketball and baseball.
Born in New Orleans, Greg always had great enthusiasm when called upon to handle play-by-play duties for Saints games at the Caesars Superdome for CBS Sports and to have the opportunity to interact with and get to know team personnel at games, practices and production meetings. The thoughts of the Saints organization go out to Greg’s family, friends and colleagues in sports broadcasting
