A new Central American destination is being added to the list of direct flights at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport.
Starting May 8, Spirit Airlines will add a direct flight to Tegucigalpa, the largest city in Honduras.
Spirit will fly to the location twice a week at 9:30 a.m.
The airline has offered a flight to San Pedro Sula in Honduras since 2021, when it also added one to Cancun, Mexico. The New Orleans area has one of the largest Honduran populations in the country.
Tegucigalpa will be the seventh international city or U.S. territory to have direct flight access to and from New Orleans.
