House was elected to the Flagstaff City Council in November 2022.
City of Flagstaff Councilmember Khara House has been named among the inaugural recipients of the National League of Cities’ (NLC) Centennial Under 40 Impact Award. The award recognizes and celebrates the outstanding contributions to public service, governance and community development of elected officials under the age of 40 from NLC member cities, towns and villages.
House was elected to the Flagstaff City Council in November 2022.
City of Flagstaff Councilmember Khara House has been named among the inaugural recipients of the National League of Cities’ (NLC) Centennial Under 40 Impact Award. The award recognizes and celebrates the outstanding contributions to public service, governance and community development of elected officials under the age of 40 from NLC member cities, towns and villages.
“I’m humbled and so honored to have received this award for my service to Flagstaff,” said Councilmember House. “I love our community and I love to serve, so I see this award as not only mine but our whole community’s recognition for being a city of impact.”
House was elected to the Flagstaff City Council in November 2022. Prior to serving on Flagstaff City Council, she worked in higher education and multifamily housing and served on the city’s Diversity Awareness and Housing Commissions. In addition, she is a writer, educator and volunteer. House is a passionate advocate for mental health, building belonging, housing and meaningful civic engagement.
“These incredible young leaders embody the spirit of innovation and dedication that defines the National League of Cities,” said Dr. Robert Blaine, senior executive and director of NLC’s Center for Leadership, Education, Advancement and Development. “Their work is not only inspiring but also vital to addressing the challenges and opportunities facing our cities today.” FBN
