One person died in a house fire in Brocton Christmas morning.
BROCTON – The name of the individual who died in a tragic fire Christmas morning has been revealed.
According to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, on Wednesday shortly after 5 a.m. the Brocton Fire Department, along with mutual aid departments, responded to a residential structure fire on Old Mill Road in the village.
As a result of the fire, 32-year-old Zane A. Shattuck, was found deceased within the residence by fire department personnel.
After extinguishing the fire, the Brocton Fire Chief contacted the Chautauqua County Fire Investigation Team to conduct an origin and cause investigation. After a thorough hands-on investigation, the fire was found to have started within the ceiling area of the basement.
