Magazine show ‘Mystics Courtside’ to return for eight-episode second season
Washington, D.C. (March 20, 2025) – The Washington Mystics and Monumental Sports Network (MNMT) announced today that the independent media platform will broadcast 40 Mystics games during the 2025 WNBA season, including 38 regular season games and two preseason games. After airing both of the team’s preseason games on May 3 (at Indiana) and May 7 (vs. Atlanta), the first regular season game available to fans on MNMT will be on Sunday, May 18 at 1:00 PM ET against the Connecticut Sun. Remaining games will be broadcast nationally on ION Television.
Last year, the Mystics set several viewership records on MNMT. During the 2024 season, linear viewership for live Mystics games on MNMT was up 139% compared to the 2023 season within the D.C. market (Source: Nielsen Media Research, HH demo. Data based on full 2023 & 2024 seasons on MNMT. DC DMA only). On the digital side, there was also a major spike in streaming viewership for Mystics games, as the number of unique streaming viewers increased 90% in 2024 compared to the previous year (Source: Streaming data based on ViewLift reports).
After a successful debut last season, magazine show Mystics Courtside will return in May with eight total episodes for 2025, featuring the best behind-the-scenes moments and off-court stories with players, staff, and Mystics fans. MNMT will also continue to offer a robust selection of Mystics gameday programs – Mystics Pregame Live and Mystics Postgame Live – to provide informative team analysis and commentary for 30 minutes before and after each regular season game on the network. In 2023, the Mystics became the first WNBA team to feature a dedicated pre- and postgame show for every regional game broadcast, and Mystics Pregame Live took home a Capital Emmy Award in June 2024.
“After record-breaking viewership in 2024, we are thrilled to have 40 Mystics games on our network this season,” said Zach Leonsis, President of Media & New Enterprises at Monumental Sports & Entertainment (MSE). “With our award-winning shoulder programming and the exciting return of ‘Mystics Courtside,’ we are dedicated to delivering a comprehensive and engaging viewing experience for our incredible fans and are looking forward to a productive year on the court under the team’s new leadership.”
The Mystics game broadcast booth will feature University of Maryland Hall of Famer Christy Winters-Scott, who returns for her 16th season as color analyst for the Mystics, and play-by-play announcer Meghan McPeak, who enters her seventh season with the team. Ariana Prather will return as the Mystics sideline reporter after missing last season due to the birth of her child.
Mystics shoulder programming will be broadcast live from MNMT’s best-in-class broadcast studios, with Wes Hall returning as host and former WNBA standouts Chasity Melvin and Marissa Coleman serving as the primary analysts. MNMT basketball analyst Jimmy Patsos will also make regular appearances. The demand for Mystics pre- and postgame programming skyrocketed in 2024, up 235% and 122% respectively year-over-year (Source: Nielsen Media Research, HH demo. Data based on full 2023 & 2024 seasons on MNMT. DC DMA only).
