MEQUON — Milwaukee-based Cobalt Partners will purchase the 6.5-acre Hy & Richard Smith JCC Water Park located at 11015 North Market St. in Mequon.
“We love the site — its location, size and potential are outstanding,” Cobalt president and CEO Scott Yauck said in a statement earlier this week. “We’re excited about the possibilities this site presents and the opportunity to positively contribute to the community’s vitality.” The firm was selected to lead the redevelopment effort after a multi-month analysis and selection process. It has not yet announced its plans for the property, but is working with the city and neighboring owners to explore various options, according to a press release.
The transaction is expected to close in June.
“Cobalt Partners has a reputation for working productively with municipalities and delivering positive outcomes, even when projects involve executional complexities,” Harry & Rose Samson Family Jewish Community Center President and CEO Mark Shapiro added.
The water park, which was operated by the Harry & Rose Samson Family Jewish Community Center, closed after the 2024 season due to what the JCC said is a result of the ongoing national lifeguard shortage and the challenges that come with operating an outdoor pool in Wisconsin. JCC staff said its currently developing new programs and events for members to enjoy this summer.
