A popup bar is opening at 21 South Park Avenue in Rockville Centre.
Memory Motel, a night spot in Montauk, is opening a popup venue on March 23, coinciding with the St. Patrick Day celebrations in Rockville Centre that weekend.
The original Montauk location was immortalized by the Rolling Stone’s song that became popular in 1976.
While the popup will only stay open for 69 days, Memory Motel owner Brian Kenny is giving the venue a “beachside dive bar” vibe, in an homage to the original Montauk location.
Popup bars are becoming increasingly popular. They offer novelty, as they are only open for a limited time, and are less costly to own and operate than other establishments, according to published reports.
Memory Motel, according to a news release, will be sharing a separate space within Rozu, which focuses on sushi and omakase, a chef-curated dining experience. Rozu is now working on a “sushi-based speakeasy concept,” according to Rozu’s website.
Memory Motel will be open Fridays and Saturdays, offering both indoor and outdoor spaces. It will feature some of the same DJs and staff from the other locations. It will also serve its signature drinks in plastic cups, iconic Memory Motel signage on the walls, a photo booth and a competitive basketball machine.
A popup version of Memory Motel also debuted last fall in Manhattan’s East Village.
