Jin, the oldest member of K-pop supergroup BTS, will be an Olympic torchbearer at the Paris games after recently completing his mandatory military service.
The 31-year-old singer is expected to represent South Korea in the torch relay in hopes of spreading the message of “harmony” and “peace," according to a statement. He finished his 18-month military service last month.
Jin along with the other torchbearers are scheduled to go across various historic sites of the host country. The specific schedule has not been disclosed.
The torch relay began in April.
Jin began his military service at a front-line South Korean military boot camp in late 2022. His other group members — comprised of Jung Kook, V, Jimin, Suga, RM, and J-Hope — are currently serving their military duties.
A day after being released from military duty, Jin hosted the annual BTS debut anniversary celebration FESTA in Seoul with activities including trying out foods, performances and dance challenges.

Judge Reinhold is in a truck barreling down the highway chased by angry cops when he turns to Eddie Murphy at the wheel and says something we're all feeling, “God, I missed you, Axel.”
We all really did, but we get the sarcastic and sweet Axel Foley once again in Netflix's “Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F,” exactly 30 years since “1994’s Beverly Hills Cop III.” Is the new movie any good? Who cares?
The fourth outing brings back not just Murphy and Reinhold to the Axel Foley Cinematic Universe, but also long-time co-stars Paul Reiser, John Ashton and Bronson Pinchot. Kevin Bacon, Taylour Paige and Joseph Gordon-Levitt make their debuts.
The plot is pretty simple: Murphy's Foley is living his best cop life in Detroit — destroying things spectacularly — when he's asked to urgently return to Beverly Hills to help his estranged daughter, played with real grit by Taylour Paige. He then gets caught up in a murder case that has dirty cops and lets him make fun of snooty Beverly Hills.
Newcomers may be puzzled by the slow pace and '80s feel of Mark Molloy's directed sequel. It's not as funny as previous ones or ambitious in the way sequels for beloved franchises have gotten. But it has Murphy blowing stuff up and joking about it — all we need, really.
“Goddamn, Foley. Here we go again,” says Ashton, playing the exasperated chief of police, and that sentiment runs through the fourth entry. All you need to make your Gen X friends happy is a montage of Murphy behind the wheel while “The Heat Is On” by Glenn Frey plays. (“Neutron Dance” by The Pointer Sisters also returns).
Speaking of music, the filmmakers seem to want to break some sort of record for Most Theme Song Plays in a Single Movie, as the instrumental tune ”Axel F? by Harold Faltermeyer is cued up, by one rough count, approximately 5,000 times.
There are also a lot of vehicles commandeered in “Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F,” perhaps a nod to the advanced age of the core group. There's a snowplow, a helicopter, a golf cart and trucks, none of which are returned in mint condition.
The screenwriters — Will Beall, Tom Gormican and Kevin Etten — leave plenty of places for Murphy to improvise but also craft some surprisingly strong dialogue between Foley and his 32-year-old daughter, both nursing hurt feelings.
“You didn’t fight. I’m your daughter. The only thing you’ve ever fought for is your job,” she tells him. “Look, we both messed this thing up. All right? Let's just call it even.” Come for the explosions, stay for the heart-to-hearts.
Murphy uses Mary J. Blige's “Family Affair” and proves it. In one scene, Foley is arrested while trying to drive away in a comically small cop car. One of the traffic cops is played by Murphy’s daughter, Bria, one of his 10 kids. Another cop who later tases him is a son-in-law.
A lot has changed in the three decades since Foley was breaking rules and skulls and there's the feeling of a requiem as these aged men go into battle again. “They don’t want swashbucklers out there anymore. They want social workers,” Reiser's detective says.
There are jokes about Wesley Snipes, small yappy dogs and Spirit airlines, a scary shootout on Wilshire Boulevard, way too much synth played and an inside joke about the last sequel, a stinker: Gordon-Levitt goes through all of Foley's brushes with the California police and says “'94, not your finest hour.”
“Axel F” is not exactly Murphy's finest hour, either. But Murphy just saying “Jesus!” is funny. Let's hope we don't have to wait another 30 years for our next Axel Foley fix. God, we've missed him.
“Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F," a Netflix release that starts streaming Wednesday, is rated R for “language throughout, violence and brief drug use.” Running time: 117 minutes. Two stars out of four.

Bob Iger has been honoured with Disney's 50-year Service Award.
The company's CEO – who has actually technically only been working for the House of Mouse since 1995 – has been presented with the prize, which features bronze statuettes of Snow White and the seven dwarfs from the 1937 animated classic.
The inscription on the trophy reads: "Recognizing 50 magical years with the Walt Disney Company.”
Iger's time with Disney officially started in 1995 when the studio acquired Capital Cities/ABC.
However, the award recognises his start date with ABC in 1974, when he began as a production assistant.
He wrote alongside a picture of his trophy: "I started my career at ABC 50 years ago today and the business has certainly changed a lot since then!
"But at the end of the day, success still hinges on one thing: great storytelling.
"I’m proud to work alongside so many talented colleagues who create exceptional stories and experiences for the world to enjoy… truly the ride of a lifetime!”
His first official Disney post came in 1996, when he was chairman of the now-Disney owned ABC Group.
Three years later, he was made president of Wlat Disney International, and the following year he started a five-year stint as the company's president and COO.
From 2005 to 2020, he served as CEO of the Walt Disney Company, and oversaw big moves like the acquisitions of Pixar, Marvel and Lucasfilm in 2006, 2009 and 2012 respectively.
In 2021, he was working as executive chairman and chairman of the board, but by the December of that year he had retired from the company.
Just 11 months later, he came out of retirement and once again took up the post of CEO.
Other Disney Service Award trophies carry different characters, with the 10-year prize including Sorcerer's Apprentice Mickey Mouse, while Simba and Tinker Bell are featured on the 20 and 25-year awards respectively.
Jiminy Cricket headlines the 30-year trophy, while Pinocchio appears on the 35-year gong.

Taylor Swift partied with Stevie Nicks and her boyfriend at an Irish bar after her last Dublin performance on her ‘Eras Tour’.
The ‘Shake it Off’ singer, 34, was with the Fleetwood Mac veteran, 76, as well as her partner Travis Kelce, also 34, along with her tour’s European opening act Paramore at the Hacienda bar in the capital.
In a post on Facebook on Monday (01.07.24) the pub said: “Great to welcome Taylor Swift with all her musicians and dancers to the Hacienda last night. “Special to also welcome Superbowl champion Travis Kelce, the legendary Stevie Nicks and Paramore.”
The Hacienda – which is beloved by celebs and has been dubbed Dublin’s “best kept secret” – added the group had “such a warm and genuinely friendly night” together.
It also said: “We did not request our ‘usual’ Hacienda photo so as to allow Taylor and friends the chance to properly relax and enjoy their well-deserved time off.”
The bar’s proprietor Shay is renowned for posting photos of the many A-list visitors to the haunt, including snaps of Olivia Rodrigo, Ed Sheeran and Teddy Swims.
Taylor partied at the bar just after finishing her three-night run of shows at Dublin’s Aviva Stadium over the weekend.
Fans were convinced Kelce, 34, surprised Swift by showing up to her performance on Sunday (30.06.24) after attending his friend’s wedding in California the evening before as she looked overjoyed on stage when she spotted him in the crowd.
The Kansas City Chiefs tight end watched his girlfriend’s show from a VIP tent, where other A-list guests included Stevie Nicks, Julia Roberts and ‘Bridgerton’ actress Florence Hunt.
Taylor – who performed with Stevie at the 2010 Grammy Awards – paid tribute to the singer during her Sunday show before singing ‘Clara Bow’, which mentions the rock icon in its lyrics.
The singer told her fans: “She’s a hero of mine and also someone that I can tell her any secret and she’d never tell anybody.
“She’s really helped me through so much over the years.”
After the show, Taylor and Travis linked up in front of fans before heading off to the Hacienda with Stevie and rock group Paramore.

Eminem will release 'The Death of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce)' next week.
The 'Without Me' hitmaker, 51, has revealed the release date for his highly anticipated 12th studio album alongside a terrifying teaser featuring the birth of a demon baby.
Sharing the video on X, formerly Twitter, and confirming the LP will be available on July 12, he wrote: "OH S!!!
"THE DEATH OF SLIM SHADY (COUP DE GRÂCE) 7/12 (sic)"
The album follows lead single 'Houdini', which dropped last month and debuted at number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Meanwhile, the iconic rapper will release the record's second single 'Tobey' – which is inspired by 'Spider-Man' actor Tobey Maguire – on Wednesday (03.07.24), with a video following two days later.
In the announcement trailer for the album release date, a woman is giving birth to a baby, who isn't breathing until the doctor slaps it to wake up.
However, the baby's eyes are completely black when they open, with a slithery tongue and even a pair of horns.
Everyone in the room shouts "Holy s" at the horror, before the album name and release date are made official.
Eminem announced the new album during the NFL Draft in April with a 'Detroit Murder Files' crime show teaser.
The clip showed a true crime reporter discussing the death of Eminem’s alter ego, Slim Shady, saying: "Through his complex… tongue-twisting rhymes, the anti-hero known as Slim Shady has had no shortage of enemies."
Frequent collaborator 50 Cent was then seen saying: "He’s not a friend, he’s a psychopath," before the reporter continued: "The same rude lyrics and controversial antics may have ultimately led to his demise. Join me as we recreate the events that led to the murder of Slim Shady."
Meanwhile, it was recently revealed Eminem is being tipped to headline Glastonbury's Pyramid Stage in 2025.
A source told The Sun newspaper's Bizarre column: “It’s been a long time coming but finally, after years of trying, Emily Eavis could be about to get her wish.
“It’s by no means a done deal but with a successful comeback in motion a huge headline slot next year makes sense."

Kevin Costner won't judge the success of 'Horizon' on box office figures.
The 69-year-old star has self-financed the epic Western saga – in which he both directs and acts in – but isn't disheartened by 'Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 1' failing to make an impact in its opening weekend in cinemas as long as his four-film vision is realised.
Kevin told Entertainment Weekly: "I've lived with movies and what happens to them on their opening weekend. If we put so much pressure on that, we're bound to be disappointed."
The 'Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves' actor added: "I'm really happy that 'Horizon' looks like what it's supposed to look like, and that's the way it'll look the rest of its life. And that's really important to me in this process.
"Would I love that it would be highly, highly successful? Of course, I'd like that. My ego would like that; everyone would like that. But I am happiest that the movie that you and I are talking about looks the way I want it to look."
The second 'Horizon' film will be released in August and Costner was determined to get both pictures released in the cinema.
He told IndieWire: "That's where I belong.
"And I also felt that I have to look at things from a monetary standpoint, because I have so much invested, that I didn't want to throw that window away. But artistically, I thought it should be on the big screen."
Despite the initial box office disappointment, Kevin is pushing on with his plans to make a quartet of movies.
He said: "People are going to just keep coming, and the story is going to keep coming, and it's going to expand."

Dua Lipa and Callum Turner have made their relationship Instagram official.
The 'Houdini' singer has been romantically linked with the 34-year-old actor since January and though neither of them have commented on the speculation, the 28-year-old star has confirmed the rumours as part of a post celebrating her weekend at Glastonbury, where she made her first headline appearance.
In amongst a number of photos and video recaps from her time at the festival, Dua shared a photo of herself and Callum staring into each other's eyes while they lay on the grass.
She captioned the post: "dancing until you see the sunrise at stone circle is the glasto ritual.(sic)"
Dua was first liked to Callum at the 'Masters of Air' premiere in London on 11 January, when TMZ reported they were slow dancing and getting close at the afterparty.
Days later, the New York Post's PageSix column shared pictures of them leaving Callum's Q+A event for the TV series in Santa Monica, which they reportedly left to dine with friends at R+D Kitchen.
In addition, the couple were also seen together at events including afterparties for the Grammy Awards, BAFTAs, and Brit Awards, as well as the Time100 Gala.
Dua – whose relationship with Romain Favras, ended last year – previously admitted she finds dating "confusing".
She told Rolling Stone magazine: “Dating, I think overall, is just a little confusing
“It’s either through friends of friends or people you trust where you can meet new people, because (dating) is not really so straightforward when you are, I guess, a public person.”
Meanwhile, the 'Levitating' singer admitted headlining Glastonbury was a "massive dream come true" when she took to the Pyramid Stage on Friday (28.06.24) night.
The 'New Rules' hitmaker – who performed for 1 hour 45 minutes – told the crowd: "Wow, Glastonbury!
"It's a lot to take in. Can we put the house lights on? I want to see everybody … Oh man, this is a massive, massive dream come true for me.
"When I wrote it down I was very specific. I said I wanted to headline the Pyramid Stage on a Friday … because then I knew I could party for the next two days in the best place on Earth!"

Robert Towne, the Oscar-winning screenplay writer of "Shampoo," "The Last Detail" and other acclaimed films whose work on "Chinatown" became a model of the art form and helped define the jaded allure of his native Los Angeles,
Towne died Monday surrounded by family at his home in Los Angeles, said publicist Carri McClure. She declined to comment on any cause of death.
In an industry which gave birth to rueful jokes about the writer's status, Towne for a time held prestige comparable to the actors and directors he worked with. Through his friendships with two of the biggest stars of the 1960s and '70s, Warren Beatty and Jack Nicholson, he wrote or co-wrote some of the signature films of an era when artists held an unusual level of creative control. The rare "auteur" among screen writers, Towne managed to bring a highly personal and influential vision of Los Angeles onto the screen.
"It's a city that's so illusory," Towne told The Associated Press in a 2006 interview. "It's the westernmost west of America. It's a sort of place of last resort. It's a place where, in a word, people go to make their dreams come true. And they're forever disappointed."
Recognizable around Hollywood for his high forehead and full beard, Towne won an Academy Award for "Chinatown" and was nominated three other times, for "The Last Detail," "Shampoo" and "Greystroke." In 1997, he received a lifetime achievement award from the Writers Guild of America.
His success came after a long stretch of working in television, including "The Man from U.N.C.L.E" and "The Lloyd Bridges Show," and on low-budget movies for "B" producer Roger Corman. In a classic show business story, he owed his breakthrough in part to his psychiatrist, through whom he met Beatty, a fellow patient. As Beatty worked on "Bonnie and Clyde," he brought in Towne for revisions of the Robert Benton-David Newman script and had him on the set while the movie was filmed in Texas.
Towne's contributions were uncredited for "Bonnie and Clyde," the landmark crime film released in 1967, and for years he was a favorite ghost writer. He helped out on "The Godfather" and "Heaven Can Wait" among others and referred to himself as a "relief pitcher who could come in for an inning, not pitch the whole game." But Towne was credited by name for Nicholson's macho "The Last Detail" and Beatty's sex comedy "Shampoo" and was immortalized by "Chinatown," the 1974 thriller set during the Great Depression.
"Chinatown" was directed by Roman Polanski and starred Nicholson as J.J. “Jake” Gittes, a private detective asked to follow the husband of Evelyn Mulwray (played by Faye Dunaway). The husband is chief engineer the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power and Gittes finds himself caught in a chaotic spiral of corruption and violence, embodied by Evelyn's ruthless father, Noah Cross (John Huston).
Influenced by the fiction of Raymond Chandler, Towne resurrected the menace and mood of a classic Los Angeles film noir, but cast Gittes' labyrinthine odyssey across a grander and more insidious portrait of Southern California. Clues accumulate into a timeless detective tale, and lead helplessly to tragedy, summed up by the one of the most repeated lines in movie history, words of grim fatalism a devastated Gittes receives from his partner Lawrence Walsh (Joe Mantell): "Forget it, Jake, it's Chinatown."
Towne's script has been a staple of film writing classes ever since, although it also serves as a lesson in how movies often get made and in the risks of crediting any film to a single viewpoint. He would acknowledge working closely with Polanski as they revised and tightened the story and arguing fiercely with the director over the film’s despairing ending — an ending Polanski pushed for and Towne later agreed was the right choice (No one has officially been credited for writing “Forget it, Jake, it's Chinatown”).

Heart singer Ann Wilson has been diagnosed with cancer.
The 74-year-old star – who shot to fame as the lead singer of the 'Barracuda' group alongside her younger sister, Nancy Wilson, 70, in the mid-70s – has cancelled the band's upcoming 'Royal Flush' tour alongside Cheap Trick, which was scheduled to begin on 30 July and run until December while she can undergo chemotherapy to tackle the disease.
Ann announced on Instagram on Tuesday (02.07.24): "Dear friends, I recently underwent an operation to remove something that, as it turns out, was cancerous. The operation was successful + I'm feeling great but my doctors are now advising me to undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy + I've decided to do it.
"And so my doctors are instructing me to take the rest of the year away from the stage in order to fully recover."
The 'What About Love' singer insisted she "absolutely" intends to get back on stage next year.
She continued: "To the ticket buyers, I really do wish we could do these gigs. Please know that I absolutely plan to be back on stage in 2025.
"My team is getting those details sorted + we'll let you know the plan as soon as we can.
"Thank you for all the support.
“This is merely a pause. I’ve much more to sing…
"Respectfully, this is the last public statement I’d like to make on the matter.”
In addition, a post on Heart's official Instagram page urged fans to “hold onto their tickets” as "they will be honoured for the rescheduled dates" and there is “more information to be announced” in the coming weeks.
In late May, Heart axed their European tour dates so that Anne could go through a "time-sensitive, but routine medical procedure".
Reassuring fans, she posted to X: "I’m okay! Please don’t worry.
"I do apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
It’s certainly an inconvenience for me.
Love and respect always, Ann."

Matthew Perry's personal wealth was $1.5million at the time of his death.
The 54-year-old 'Friends' actor died from a ketamine overdose in October 2023 and he also had a $120million trust fund with his family and ex-girlfriend as beneficiaries, according to The US Sun.
The beneficiaries of the will include his father John Perry, mother Suzanne Morrison, half-sister Caitlin Morrison and ex-girlfriend Rachel Dunn, who he dated from 2003 to 2005.
Matthew made a will in in 2009, which stated he wanted to leave "a majority of his belongings" to the Alvy Singer Living Trust he created.
Lisa Ferguson, the trustee of Perry's estate, filed an inventory and appraisal document showing a balance of $1,596,914.47, which is in addition to what was already in the trust.
Legal papers showed that Matthew was very careful about who he named as his heirs.
He stated: "I have intentionally omitted from this Will and the Trust any provision for any of my heirs, issue, relatives, or other persons who are not named.
"I also intentionally do not provide for any stepchildren or foster children that I now have or may later acquire."
Matthew was unmarried and had no children when he died.
Matthew's body was found lifeless in the jacuzzi in the backyard of his Los Angeles home, with his cause of death later ruled due to the acute effects of ketamine along with drowning.
Law enforcement launched an investigation to determine where he had obtained the drug and it has been reported "multiple people" are expected to be charged in connection with his death.

The man charged with stabbing author Salman Rushdie rejected a plea deal Tuesday that would have shortened his state prison term but exposed him to a federal terrorism-related charge, the suspect's lawyer said.
Hadi Matar, 26, has been held without bail since the 2022 attack, in which he is accused of stabbing Rushdie more than a dozen times and blinding him in one eye as the acclaimed writer was onstage, about to give a lecture at the Chautauqua Institution in western New York.
Matar’s attorney, Nathaniel Barone, confirmed that Matar, who lived in Fairview, New Jersey, rejected the agreement Tuesday in Mayville, New York.
The agreement would have had Matar plead guilty in Chautauqua County to attempted murder in exchange for a maximum state prison sentence of 20 years, down from 25 years. It would have also required him to plead guilty to a federal charge of attempting to provide material support to a designated terrorist organization, which could result in an additional 20 years, attorneys said.
Rushdie, who detailed the attack and his recovery in a memoir, had spent years in hiding after the Ayatollah Khomeini issued a fatwa, or edict, in 1989 calling for his death over Rushdie's novel “The Satanic Verses,” which some Muslims consider blasphemous. The author reemerged into the public the late 1990s and has traveled freely over the past two decades.
Matar was born in the U.S. but holds dual citizenship in Lebanon, where his parents were born. His mother has said that her son had become withdrawn and moody after visiting his father in Lebanon in 2018.
Rushdie wrote in his memoir that he saw a man running toward him in the amphitheater, where he was about to speak about the importance of keeping writers safe from harm. The author is on the witness list for Matar's upcoming trial.
Representatives for Rushdie did not immediately respond to an emailed request for comment.

Travis Kelce turned down a Netflix docuseries.
Despite previously starring in the reality TV dating show 'Catching Kelce', Kansas City Chiefs tight end rejected an offer to appear in the streamer's follow-up to its successful series 'Quarterback'.
Speaking during an interview on 'Bussin' with the Boys, Travis, 34, explained: "After [Patrick Mahomes] did ['Quarterback'], I did get asked about it.
"I just — I don't know. I'd rather just play ball, man.
"I'm already doing enough with the podcast and everything. I'm way over the reality s*** dude. I'm out on that s***."
After Travis turned down the series, it was announced that Justin Jefferson of the Minnesota Vikings, Davante Adams from the Las Vegas Raiders, Amon-Ra St. Brown of the Detroit Lions and San Francisco 49ers teammates George Kittle and Deebo Samuel will star.
Travis and his retired NFL star brother Jason Kelce host the successful podcast 'New Heights'.
Meanwhile, Travis – who is dating superstar Taylor Swift – previously spoke about the seven-episode reality series 'Catching Kelce', which he filmed when he was just 25.
He told WSJ: "I don’t really look back on the 'Catching Kelce' era."
And, instead he is focused on his relationship with Taylor.
He told 'Bussin' with the Boys': "You want to keep things private, but at the same time, like, I’m not here to hide anything. That’s my girl, you know what I mean? That’s my lady, so it’s like… I’m proud of that.
"I’m not sitting here trying to juggle like, 'how can I keep this under wraps?' You just don’t want to let everyone into your personal life and be able to comment on it, knowing that everything she does is getting a headline.
"It’s a different demographic than the NFL, so it’s been cool to dabble in that and see her following and everything. It’s been fun because a lot more kids are into the game and the Chiefs fans have turned into a lot of her fans. And her fans have turned into Chiefs fans, so I’ve had fun with every aspect of it."
