Dowty repeats Gatorade honor
Indian Creek junior Libby Dowty was named the Indiana Gatorade Player of the Year for girls cross country on Thursday. Dowty, who also earned the award after winning an individual state championship as a sophomore in 2023, capped her 2024 season with a fifth-place showing at the Foot Locker Cross Country National Championships in San Diego on Dec. 14. She was also fifth and seventh, respectively, at the Foot Locker and NXN regional meets. Both Dyestat and MileSplit ranked Dowty as the No. 14 distance runner in the nation at season’s end.
