CASPER, Wyo. — Thursday is National Pie Day and, to celebrate the occasion, local business owner and community figure Reid Rasner spent the day delivering pies to students and staff across the Natrona County School District.
That’s according to a press release from Rasner’s office, which stated that Rasner delivered pies and spoke about the importance of STEM — science, technology engineering and math — education.
“Over 100 students and staff were treated to pies as part of this special initiative, organized with the help of Christopher Dresang at the Student Support Services Office, whose dedication and organizational skills played a pivotal role in making this event a success,” the release stated.
Dresang said that it was “incredible to see the joy on students’ faces and to be part of an initiative that not only celebrated National Pie Day but also emphasized the importance of STEM education. Events like these remind us of the power of community partnerships.”
On the subject of partnerships, the release noted that the event would not have been possible without the collaborative efforts of educators and administrators, including Scarlett Alleman, Jon Miller, Kaycee Auen and Lendsay Fox of Centennial Junior High School.
According to the release, students were thrilled to meet Rasner, who, the release stated, is “a well-known advocate for education and community leadership.”
While delivering the sweet treats, Rasner emphasized the importance and significance of equipping young minds with the skills that come from STEM education.
“Public speaking and STEM education are not just subjects in a classroom; They are the building blocks for future leaders and innovators,” Rasner said. “Learning how to communicate effectively and think critically about science and technology will open doors to endless possibilities for students.”
Rasner also shared why he has chosen to invest in the lives of students of Natrona County.
“When we take the time to invest in our youth, we’re investing in the future of Wyoming,” he said. “STEM education is at the heart of preparing students to solve real-world problems, and events like these allow us to inspire the next generation of leaders.”
The release noted that this event provided a sweet treat and a memorable opportunity for Rasner to engage with the community and promote the value of education.
“Reid Rasner remains committed to supporting Wyoming’s students and educators, ensuring a brighter future for all,” the release stated.
