Looking northeast, the new Safeway is about 50,000 square feet — twice the size of the old.
The old Safeway atop Queen Anne Hill was demolished two summers ago, not long after the construction loan and development rights sale to a venture of Lion Gables Realty, local shop Barrientos Ryan and Cahill Equities. The store reopened this past weekend, using its old 2100 Queen Anne Ave. N. as the address.
