Contributed NOW OPEN — Keesey Chiropractic recently celebrated the grand opening of its location at 700 Lincoln Ave. in Cadiz.
CADIZ — Residents of Cadiz and the surrounding area who may have shoulder pain, hip pain or headaches can now visit a new office that opened in the village last month.
Dr. Dominique Keesey opened Keesey Chiropractic on Feb. 5 at 700 Lincoln Ave. in Cadiz. The hours for the clinic are Monday from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 7 p.m., Tuesday from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m., Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 7 p.m., Thursday from 7 a.m. to noon and Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The practice is closed on weekends.
Keesey has two chiropractic assistants working with her. She received her undergraduate degree in exercise science while double majoring in strength and conditioning from Bluffton University in Bluffton. She thought about what she wanted to do and kept going back to chiropractic because she had a sports injury in high school, and a chiropractor was the only remedy to make her pain go away.
After shadowing professionals in college, she decided it was what she really wanted to do, so she went to chiropractic school for four years at Logan University in Chesterfield, Mo. She completed an eight-month internship in Louisville, Ky., then did a one-year apprenticeship where she worked under another doctor in Marysville.
Keesey the had the opportunity to go back to her hometown and open her own office.
“It’s always been my dream to come back to my hometown,” she said, “to be able to help at least as many people who supported me through all of my careers.”
The office is accepting new patients. Call (740) 320-4022 to schedule an appointment or go to keeseychiro.com and schedule online.
Keesey offers chiropractic adjustments, normally doing manual adjustments but also using instrument-assisted techniques, if needed; electrical stimulation on almost every patient to try to relax the muscles; muscle work with cupping; Graston Technique, or soft tissue scraping; and a range of motion exercises with people as well, such as exercises that they’re able to take home with them.
Keesey works on the body from head to toe on newborns to older patients, for problems with pain, such as shoulder pain, hip pain, headaches and muscle pains.
She also works with many pregnant women if they’re experiencing hip or lower back discomfort.
She said she works with the musculoskeletal system.
“I want to get you out of pain as best as I can,” Keesey said. “But I’m really trying to focus on maintaining the overall health of your spine, your skeletal system, your muscles and your function. So, I’m getting you out of pain, but I’m also trying to hit the root of the problem and fix that and retrain your body to stay in the way that it should be.”
Keesey is trying to improve people’s posture at her office and make sure someone’s nervous system is operating as well as it can.
The office does not take insurance due to Keesey trying to get credentialed through all of the insurance companies, which takes a while, she said. She noted she was shocked at how well business has been going since opening at the beginning of the month.
For now, the office has a “super bill” for people so they have the ability to submit to their insurance companies to try to get a reimbursement.
Keesey is hoping to help as many people get out of pain and live the most pain-free life that they can and have people realize they shouldn’t be living with the pain that they think is normal and an everyday thing, because, “It’s not, and you shouldn’t be living with everyday kind of aches and pains. It means that there’s something off, and I have the ability to help fix those problems,” she said.
Keesey wants people to know at her office she will listen to their problems and ask questions to make sure she’s giving the best care someone needs.
“I’m actually hitting the problems that you came to see me for,” she said. “Also, we try to make our clinic super uplifting and a good place when you come in. So that’s always exciting.”
