While fall sports wind down and Big Ten season honors are bestowed, spring sports are ramping up and announcing names to keep an eye on this season. Despite rocky records in some areas, the Boilers have had quite a few names pop up in award and watch lists this week.
Purdue Volleyball has so far followed its strong season with an excellent showing in the NCAA Tournament, sweeping the first two rounds. As they made it into the Regional Semifinal, four Boilers were given All-Region honors.
Chloe Chicoine and Raven Colvin were named to the All-Region team and Ali Hornung received an Honorable Mention.

Topping the podium was junior outside hitter Eva Hudson, who earned AVCA Midwest Player of the Year. After receiving Freshman of the Year in 2022, this marks Hudson’s third region team honor in three years.
With a tournament leading 6.83 kills per set and average hitting .500% in the first two matches, Hudson leaves no doubt as to how she earned the title.

Senior Brady Samuels has been named the Big Ten Swimmer of the Week after tallying four NCAA provisional qualifying times and a gold medal at the USA Swimming’s Toyota U.S. Open Championships.
Samuels’ gold medal time of 19.33 in the 50 free was the second fastest in the team’s history, and his 1:34 time in the 200 freestyle set a new record for Purdue.
The last time Purdue claimed the Swimmer of the Week title was also Samuels, in November 2023.
Just days after the 2024 Indoor Track and Field season began Dec. 6, two Boilers were named to the Big Ten Athletes to Watch list.

Cameron Miller, a graduate student on the men’s team earned the title for his short sprints. He was also named to the Outdoor All-Big Ten First Team for the 2024 season.
Miller joined Purdue last season and set an indoor program record with a 20.40 finish in his first 200m race.
Sophomore Alexia Smith represented the women’s team on the watch list with her long sprints and hurdles. She capped her freshmen season with a time of 54.19 in the 400m race, earning ninth place in the Big Ten Championship.
