Kakuda is helmed by Munjya director Aditya Sarpotdar.
Bollywood is now increasing its offering from the coming Halloween season. After Stree 2 and a new sequel for Bhool Bhulaiyaa in works, we have another from the makers of Munjya. Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar and starring Sonakshi Sinha, Riteish Deshmukh and Saqib Salim in leading roles, Kakuda dropped its first official trailer.
Interestingly, the film takes a jibe at Stree and Bhool Bhulaiyaa films.
The Kakuda trailer begins by introducing the haunted village of Ratodi, where each house has two doors: one big and one small. The smaller door is for a ghost named Kakuda. Saqib Salim and Sonakshi Sinha are shown as a couple in love, who get married and start a new chapter in their lives. On their wedding night, at 7:15 pm, Sunny (aka Saqib) forgets to open the small door for Kakuda, unintentionally invoking the malevolent spirit.
The ghost places a curse on the head of the household as a punishment, leading to a hump growing on their back until their early passing on the thirteenth day. With Sunny’s life in danger, Indira (aka Sonakshi) seeks help from Victor, an intriguing ghost hunter played by Riteish.

Kakuda is Sonakshi Sinha’s first film since her wedding to beau Zaheer Iqbal. For Riteish and Saqib, this is their fist film of the year. Sonakshi Sinha shares loved-up photos with husband Zaheer Iqbal from their vacation
Ronnie Screwvala has produced the horror-comedy. Kakuda will release on July 5, 2024 on Zee5.
