Making sure recyclables aren’t just trashed is the goal of this Jackson nonprofit
A Jackson nonprofit has taken care of the environment for more than 40 years and wants residents to know their recyclables are being recycled, not trashed.
Recycling Jackson began in 1983 after a group of residents decided Jackson County needed additional and more accessible recycling options. The drop off center at 1401 Brown St. was created and has been running ever since, Recycling Jackson’s Board President Steve Noble said.
The goal of the organization is to bridge the gap for residents who do not have access to recycling centers or pick up services. This helps keep the environment clean and leaves fewer recyclable materials from ending up in the trash, he said.
