Former Florida Republican Rep. Matt Gaetz is pursuing another media endeavor after his time in Congress, this time a podcast discussing culture, entertainment, and politics.
Gaetz unveiled his new podcast, Over the Line with Matt Gaetz, on X, joking that he has been told throughout his life that he sometimes goes “over the line.” The former firebrand lawmaker detailed his time in Congress while also citing how he was President Donald Trump’s first pick for attorney general, a position Gaetz called “the top cop in the world.”
“But now, I’m bringing my friends together in art, culture, entertainment, news, politics, and we’re going to let you know what’s happening next,” Gaetz said in a video posted to X.

Gaetz resigned from Congress shortly after Trump nominated him for U.S. attorney general, though he withdrew his name from consideration shortly after, prompting Trump to nominate Pam Bondi instead. Since then, Gaetz started his own show on One America News titled The Matt Gaetz Show.
In December, the House Ethics Committee released a report on Gaetz following four years of investigating allegations of sexual misconduct with a minor and use of illicit drugs, with the report citing “substantial evidence” he paid for sex with a minor and the drugs. However, the office of Florida’s attorney general indicated that any state charges would have to be pursued by local law enforcement in the “appropriate jurisdiction.”

Beyond starting a new podcast and hosting a show on OANN, Gaetz has also hinted at running for Florida governor in 2026, as Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) is term-limited. Gaetz said he and his family will “think and pray” about this possibility, adding that they have “plenty of time” to come to a decision.
Besides Gaetz, another name many consider to succeed DeSantis in the governor’s mansion is Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL), who hired pollster Tony Fabrizio and his firm, Fabrizio, Lee & Associates, earlier this month. Fabrizio previously worked as a pollster for Trump in his 2016 campaign.
