France Budget Crisis:
France’s Socialist Party may be nearing an agreement with Prime Minister Francois Bayrou in which it would support the government in exchange for the suspension of a contentious reform of the pension system, party head Olivier Faure said.
Faure and the party’s two legislative heads, Boris Vallaud and Patrick Kanner, met last night with Bayrou. While that meeting wasn’t productive, subsequent exchanges by phone led to a potential advance, he said.
