France’s new Prime Minister Francois Bayrou’s meeting with Marine Le Pen on Monday left the far-right leader “more positive” on his method, even if she said it wasn’t clear yet if the talks were useful.
Le Pen’s discussion with Bayrou was just the first of several the prime minister is holding today with different political groupings in Parliament. Bayrou was named Friday by President Emmanuel Macron after the previous government of Michel Barnier fell in a no-confidence vote backed by Le Pen.
