Public Enemy hype man Flavor Flav is everywhere these days, from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame to the MTV Video Music Awards and the Olympics. But he’s also thinking about his final resting place.
The 65-year-old rapper and reality TV star told Rolling Stone in a new interview that he wants his iconic prop — a clock around his neck so he always knows what time it is — to be part of his gravesite.
“I might request that on top of my coffin is a built-in clock. And then also when you open up the lid, there’s a big clock,” the man born William Drayton said. “And on the tombstone, it should be a clock.”
That’s a lot of clocks, and maybe isn’t surprising to longtime fans of the “Flavor of Love” star. He told the magazine that he’s had a lot of different timepieces over the years, including an extravagant cuckoo clock made in Switzerland that features a “a little Flav that comes out at the top” and says “Yeah boyyyy” multiple times for every hour (three times for three o’clock, four for four o’clock, and so on).
However, Flavor Flav apparently doesn’t want his trademark catchphrase on the tombstone. He told Rolling Stone he wants his epitaph to say three words: “It’s about time.”
