Vicky Kaushal and brother Sunny Kaushal appeared on the latest episode of comedy show ‘The Great Indian Kapil Show’ that streams on Netflix. The actor brothers have been a part of discussions around films since a young age courtesy their father Sham Kaushal, who is a well-known stunt director in the film industry.
Vicky shared another hilarious incident from the Kaushal household recounting how his father never scolded him and younger brother Sunny when they fought with each other. On the contrary, he encouraged them to fight in Punjabi.
He said, “As kids we were not used to speaking in Punjabi. We used to talk in Hindi or English. So sometimes when we would fight, we would fight in Hindi. When Papa used to enter our room, we used to think he will scold us but he would enter and say, ‘Punjabi mein lad lo maza bhi aaega (Fight in Punjabi altleast you will enjoy). He still does that.”
Director Prasanth Varma, who earned praise for his film ‘Hanu-Man’, unveiled the poster of his upcoming film ‘Jai Hanuman’ on Tuesday on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti.
The new poster shows Lord Hanuman standing strong opposite a dragon, perhaps the first time when dragons will be seen in a mythological film in India.
Keeping to his promise to make the film a true spectacle, Prasanth is going big with his decision to bring dragons on the screen, while also promising his audience to provide a stellar experience in IMAX 3D.
Following the poster release, fans are eagerly waiting to see what the director has in store with the second installment in the ‘Hanu-Man’ series.
‘Hanu-Man’ also marked the beginning of the Prasanth Varma Cinematic Universe (PVCU). Prasanth’s vision for PVCU is to make it a superhero universe from India. For the same, Prasanth intends to tell stories of mythological figures and bring them on the big screen on a grand scale.
‘Jai Hanuman’ is also expected to be a global experience for the masses in IMAX 3D and on the 70mm.
The popular Malayalam actor Fahadh Faasil, who just released the film ‘Aavesham’, has identified the distinctions between Malayalam and other Indian cinema.
The actor, who is well-known for his parts in the films ‘Kumbalangi Nights’, ‘Maheshinte Prathikaaram’, ‘Malik’, ‘Joji’, and other productions, emphasised how little OTT platform support Malayalam film still receives.
“The trade has grown for Malayalam cinema, but our cinema even now doesn’t have a solid back-up of an online streaming platform. We need to prove our mettle in theatres for any of these things to come in. Unlike the rest of India, where almost 80 per cent of films are sold even before the shoot is started, things are different for us.” Fahadh told Galatta Plus.
“Our model is not that, we need to finish the film and release the film to demonstrate its potential before it gains traction on OTT platforms. This approach has influenced our industry’s cinematic culture, emphasising the importance of crafting compelling stories and producing quality content,” he added.
The recent summer rom-com ‘Do Aur Do Pyaar’ brought together two powerhouse performers – Vidya Balan and Pratik Gandhi. Beyond their on-screen chemistry as a married couple, the duo shares a deep bond of respect and admiration for each other’s craft, evident in their heartfelt praise for each other.
Vidya Balan, known for her nuanced performances and unerring charm, was captivated by Pratik Gandhi’s portrayal of Harshad Mehta in the acclaimed series ‘SCAM.’ She revealed, “When I watched SCAM and met Pratik soon after, he seemed like he was born to play Harshad Mehta. I even would have thought he was Harshad Mehta if I didn’t know that the real Harshad Mehta existed.” Balan’s admiration for Gandhi’s talent was so profound that she even considered pitching him for a project, showcasing her unwavering belief in his abilities. She further added, “That man who was so badass, it’s unbelievable, can be shy. So with Pratik I couldn’t have any preconceived notions. I had a certain image and then it expanded and then expanded further. That’s what is so charming about him as an actor.”
In turn, Pratik Gandhi, who had long admired Vidya Balan’s star power, found himself pleasantly surprised by her warmth and approachability. He shared, “My understanding of Vidya Balan was that she was always a star. She had only watched my SCAM, but I had watched all of her work.” Gandhi’s initial perception of Balan transformed when they met in person, as he found her easy to converse with and down-to-earth. He expressed, “When we met for the first time, she was very easy to talk to. She was easy to approach. She laughed frequently. She would crack jokes. When we started shooting she was so easy to work with that I felt I was working with some theatre friend and I’ve known her for a long time. Star se leke seedha I felt we are colleagues and working together.”
Their mutual admiration and camaraderie translated seamlessly onto the screen, adding depth and authenticity to their on-screen relationship. As ‘Do Aur Do Pyaar’ continues to charm audiences, the bond between Vidya Balan and Pratik Gandhi serves as a testament to the power of collaboration and mutual respect in the world of the movies.
