ALEXANDRIA — The Thornton Law Office recently announced that Ellen Kappmeyer has joined the team as an associate attorney. She is primarily handling estate planning as well as probate and trust administration matters.
Kappmeyer moved to Alexandria after law school to serve as a law clerk for the Honorable Ann L. Carrott, Seventh District Court Judge. Following her clerkship, Kappmeyer worked as a Deputy State’s Attorney in her home state of South Dakota for over eight years, where she tried cases and handled civil, criminal and juvenile matters.

After practicing law in South Dakota, Kappmeyer returned to the Alexandria lakes area. She has lived in the area for over seven years. Prior to joining the Thornton Law Office, Kappmeyer had her own practice, Kappmeyer Law.
Kappmeyer is a board member for the Douglas County Library, and enjoys helping with her children’s activities at school and at church.
