
The Immanuel Christian high school boys basketball team had five players and its head coach honored by the Texas Christian Athletic Fellowship with several postseason honors.
Carlos Acuna was named the Most Valuable Player, and was named first team All-State, Noah Ayala and Ben Story were named first team All-State, Jayson Chang was named second-team All-State and Jaden Andrews was named honorable mention All-State.
Immanuel Christian coach Aaron Huerta was named the TCAF Coach of the Year.
The Warriors defeated Trinity Christian, 61-49, to win the TCAF state championship on Feb. 23.
One of El Paso’s top amateur boxers Moises Rodriguez, won the 121-pound title on Saturday night, March 15, in Fort Worth, defeating Alex Espinoza of Dallas in the Elite Male Division.
With the win, Rodriguez advances to the National Golden Gloves Championships May 12-17 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
