CORRY — Eisenhower’s fourth quarter rally from a 10-point deficit fell just short as Northwestern held on to beat the Knights in the consolation game of the Jim Grucca Memorial Christmas Tournament in Corry.
The game began slowly for both teams as Northwestern opened up a 15-12 lead at the end of the first quarter and both teams kept pace as Northwestern led at the half 21-18.
Northwestern’s defense and some cold shooting by the knights allowed the lead to stretch to 10 at the end of the third quarter 34-24.
The Knights, behind junior Gavin Lindemuth’s 10 4th quarter points and teammate Casey Seymour’s 8 points, helped cut the lead to just four points with 1:57 to play.
However, some clutch free throw shooting from Northwestern would not allow the Knights to get any closer as they fell 48-42 and saw their record drop to 4-3 on the season.
Lindemuth led all scorers with 22 points and was named to the all-tournament team. Seymour added 12 points.
Northwestern was led by Josh Cornwell’s 13 points.
The Knights return to action this Friday when they travel to General McLane for a non-region game.
