“The idea was to bring a new style of window tint to Flagstaff.”
Taylor Decker’s passion for cars has turned into the thriving Archie’s Auto Glass and Tint in Flagstaff. The business is open to anyone, but his biggest customers are Findlay Auto and the Chevrolet dealership.
“The idea was to bring a new style of window tint to Flagstaff.”
“It started with a vision in my little garage, and it took off from there,” he said. “The idea was to bring a new style of window tint to Flagstaff.”
Decker says he has modernized the tinting business and offers a bright environment for guests. He plans to add murals as well. “We use new technologies, new projects and videos on social media for marketing. We have a cool atmosphere with nice vehicles in a nice clean shop. It gives people trust that they will have a superior experience. We present ourselves in a clean, upscale manner.”
Decker was raised in Flagstaff. He moved to the Phoenix metropolitan area to learn window tinting and then came back. He then worked for Findlay Honda until the pandemic hit.
“People were not buying as many cars, so I decided to tell my boss: ‘I’m not going to work for you, but I will take you with me.’ They took a liking to it. I knew everybody there and it just seemed like a natural progression,” he said.
Taylor has been tinting windows for nine years and has worked on more than 15,000 vehicles. Aside from the work with dealerships, he has many local customers.
“We’ve been growing in size as we double our business each year,” he said, adding that the videos on social media have had a great response. “We’re doing big city marketing in a small town.”
Taylor said the best part of owning his own business is the freedom that it gives him and the trust people put in him to work on their vehicles. “It’s cool to be around cars, to see them every day and to see the new styles.”
A car buff to the core, he owns a 1964 El Camino, a 2006 souped-up SUV Forester and a Ford F150. His dream car is either a ‘69 Chevelle or a Porsche. “I go to some of the car shows to see new products.”
Taylor said the most challenging part of his business is trying to exceed his own expectations. “I plan to be here a long time and grow with the community,” he said.
