MILL HALL – Leaping mightily into the new year!
The Central Mountain girls basketball team opened their 2025 campaign in grand fashion as they rolled past Danville on Friday evening at the Central Mountain gym. The Wildcats started strong and never looked back, bulldozing their way to a convincing 52-24 victory to improve to 3-4 on the season.
Leading the scoring on the night was Taylor Doyle. Doyle just missed a triple-double as she finished with a game-high 17 points, 11 rebounds and seven steals throughout Friday’s game. Sophomore Camdyn Weaver followed her up well with 15.
Defensively, the Wildcats forced 19 steals and pulled down 41 rebounds to Danville’s 20.
“I thought defensively we were extremely active. I thought our activity on defense was probably better than it’s been all season. We played defense without fouling today,” said Central Mountain coach Scott Baker. “We were able to create turnovers without fouling. So I thought that was the most positive thing tonight.”

Danville opened the second period well, cutting its deficit down to ten on a triple from Hannah Hafer. But Central Mountain continued its pressure and quickly responded as a result, going on a 8-0 run to up its lead to 20.
Then, after surrendering another triple, Walker scored the next two points for the Wildcats, upping the home team’s lead to 26-7. Danville would score the last bucket of the half as Coombe stepped back and drained a triple, but the Wildcats’ lead heading into the break remained comfortable at 26-10 and would be built on considerably once play resumed.
