BOZEMAN, Mont. — Three Forks High School and Manhattan High School softball, and Belgrade High School baseball all got into the win column on Tuesday.
The Wolves have found their offensive early in the season as they have scored 30 runs in seven total innings. Three Forks defeated Ennis 15-0 in three innings on Mar. 26.
The Wolves earned 9 of their first 11 runs off the bats of sophomore Nova Ervin and junior Grace Kluin. Ervin blasted a 2-run homer in the first inning and a 3-run homer in the second inning.
Kluin drove in a 2-RBI single in the first inning and a 2-RBI double in the second inning to propel Three Forks.
Three Forks (2-0) will sit for a week before travelling to its first road game of the season at Anaconda on Tuesday, April 9 at 4 p.m.
The Tigers pull away late for a season-opening run-rule against the Mustangs.
Manhattan was up 5-2 before a Camdyn Holgate 2-RBI double extended the lead. A Paige Ballantyne RBI single ended a 4-run fifth inning to make it 9-2.
Ennis answered with a 2-out rally as a Liz Olson RBI double and a Megan Knack RBI single cut it to 9-4.
The Tigers forced the run-rule with a 5-run sixth inning with a Zohy O'Rourke 2-RBI double, a Holgate RBI double, and a Ballantyne 2-RBI single.
Manhattan (1-0) will head to Anaconda before Three Forks as the Tigers take on the Copperheads on Friday at 3 p.m.
The Panthers completed the season sweep of the Vigilantes in an error-filled home-opener. Belgrade won 14-3 at East Helena on Mar 21.
The Panthers took the lead by stealing home in the second inning . However, the Vigilantes responded in the next frame due to a couple errors as an RBI single from Xavier Nunn gave them a 2-1 lead.
East Helena stayed in front until an RBI single from Belgrade's Landon Wanders tied the game in the fifth inning. Hayden Robson would score the go-ahead run for the Panthers in the sixth inning as he took home on a passed ball.
Belgrade (4-1) will next host Lone Peak (0-1) and Sidney (1-1) in round-robin play on Friday. The Panthers will face the Big Horns at noon and will face the Eagles at 4 p.m.
